About Agri-Analysis

Agri-Analysis was founded in 1981 by plant pathologist Glenn Friebertshauser, who desired to establish his own laboratory to diagnose plant diseases after completing his studies in University of California, Davis. His interest spanned fungal, viral and bacterial pathogens of plants, vines, trees and soil. His initial service to the agricultural community was in the development of a commercially applicable assay for lettuce mosaic virus (LMV), allowing for screening of virus-free lettuce seed lots before planting. In the mid-80's he became interested in diseases of grapevines and saw the need in the industry for laboratory assays to diagnose the presence of viral pathogens such as fanleaf virus, leafroll associated viruses and corky bark virus. Later, he developed additional assays for the bacterium Xylella fastidiosa (causal agent for Pierce's Disease in grapes and almond leaf scorch) and fungal diseases, notably those associated with Esca, also known as young vine decline.

OUR DEDICATED STAFF

Dr. Alan Wei, Laboratory Manager.  Dr. Wei recieved his Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering. He has over 15 years of experience in assay development, lateral flow tests, homogeneous fluorescence assays, surface chemistry, microbial detection, etc. He recently led a five member expert team to participate the USDA-China scientific exchange program on testing technologies. Dr. Wei is often invited to give talks on rapid detection technologies in national and international conferences, and is a recognized expert on viral and bacterial detection.

Andy Zinkl, Laboratory Technician.  Mr. Zinkl joined Agri Analyis1996, and is responsible for for ELISA and PCR assays and other laboratories responsibilities. Andy received his B.S. degree in Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology from UC Davis in 1996.

Judi Williams, Laboratory Technician.  Ms. Williams joined Agri-Analysis 2002, and is responsible for preparation of material for ELISA and PCR assays and other laboratories responsibilities.

Rebecca Preston, Laboratory Technician.  Ms. Preston joined Agri Analysis 2000. Rebecca is currently pursuing for her B.S. degree in environmental studies at Sacramento State University.
